Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) is usually the second stage of the three stage-process within the court proceedings when dealing with an application for financial remedy. This provides the opportunity for both you and your spouse to try to agree an overall financial settlement. The judge provides an indication of what outcome may be appropriate to encourage agreement and assist the parties with an independent view of the merits of their circumstances. Both parties will be expected to make an offer of settlement. If an agreement is reached at the FDR, the terms will be drawn up in a Consent Order and approved by the Judge. If an agreement is not reached, the matter may be referred to a Final Hearing.
